Weimar & Margaret (Rafferty) Siler Branch

Welcome to Siler Descendants!

Siler Descendants has been created as a central gathering place for the descendants of the Weimar & Margaret (Rafferty) Siler branch of the Siler family.

Weimar Siler was the second son of German immigrant Plikard Dederick Siler and his wife Elizabeth Hartsoe. According to family tradition, Plikard and Elizabeth arrived in America in 1741.  Plikard's actual arrival date was more likely 1738.

Weimar Siler married Margaret Rafferty after the Revolutionary War and they began their life together in Virginia, where their eldest child, Esther, was born.  From Virginia the family moved first to Pendleton, SC and later to Turkey Creek in Buncombe County, NC. Weimar and Margaret made their last move in 1827 to Maco
n County, NC where their sons had settled. Here Weimar died in 1831 and Margaret in 1839.  They are both buried in the cemetery at the Franklin Methodist Church.  Weimar and Margaret had nine children.
